About the Society

SOCCER society is the club which represents the Undergraduate Civil Engineers of NIT Jalandhar and our purpose is to enhance your college experience by providing activities, services, and hearing your issues, concerns and suggestions regarding Civil.
The primary aim of SOCCER society is to expose potential civil engineers to the challenges of the profession. This society aims to be one of the most active society and has both students and faculty as its members. SOCCER society provides a basic platform to showcase and sharpen student's talents through a variety of events and activities which are planned throughout the year

List of Events

Survey Hunt (3-4 members)

This event will be conducted in two rounds with increasing difficulty in each. The participants are required to solve the riddles by exploring the campus. The shortlisted teams will participate in the audio-visual round.


Round 1: (Elimination Round)

In this round clues and riddles (paheli) will be provided to the teams which will be related to the structure, colour, size and shape of buildings present in the campus. Bonus round will also be conducted at the end.


Round 2:

This round will be like an audio-visual round. In this event the participants will be shown one image and they have to answer about that image.


Limited entrties, only first 40 teams will be accepted.

Tech Carnival (1-4 members)

“We just see, don’t observe!”isn’t that right? Well, prove us wrong! Pick up a problem and uproot its cause! It is a technical event where you have a chance to showcase your abilities to present Universal ideas & innovative Solutions to various Problems. Theproblems should be related to daily life civil aspects.


Round 1:

A team comprising of maximum 4 members; will be given a total of 20 minutes for presentation (Either Verbal or powerpoint presentation). The participants will describe about the problem in the field of civil that they have chosen and discuss the solution presented by them.


Round 2:

This will be a question answer round wherein the judges will ask the questions related to the model/presentation and the participants have to answer the same.


Rules and Regulations:

  1. 1. Event is open to all.
  2. 2. A team should comprise of maximum of 4 members.
  3. 3. Each team will be given a total of 20 min for presentation (either verbal or ppt) and Q-A round (from the judges).
  4. 4. The model should clearly depict the problem with its corresponding solution.
  5. 5. Readymade or factory made model will not be accepted from any source.
  6. 6. Marks will be deducted , if there is no innovation.
  7. 7. Decision of judges will be final and binding.


Judging Criteria

  1. 1. Innovation (30 marks)
  2. 2. Presentation+Model / Only Presentation (50 marks)
  3. 3. Q-A round (20 marks)

QUIZ-O-MANIA (1-3 members)

Knowledge is Power Indeed. It is also, however, something that can fetch you great prizes. Techniti’18 in association with the SocCEr, brings to you the first edition of esteemed Quiz event 'QUIZ-O-MANIA' . Plenty interesting stuff to rack those brains!! This quiz involves to use your technical knowledge and solve the problems.


Round 1: (Elimination Round)

1.Each team would be given a set of question paper containing 25 multiple choice objective type questions.
2.Time limit 20 minutes
3.Only 10 Teams would be selected for FINAL ROUND
4.In case of tie between 2 or more teams, further 5 questions would be asked for final selection
5.The selected teams shall have to appear for the final round


Round 2: (Rapid fire round)

1.Each team will be asked 10 questions one after another
2.10 marks for the correct answer and negative 5 marks for the wrong answer
3.Answering time is only 10 seconds
4.Team discussion is allowed
5.If a team cannot answer the question, they can say pass for the next question. The question will not be forwarded to the next team.


Round :3 (Buzzer round)

1.A question will be fired & the team who presses the buzzer first get to answer first
2.10 marks for the correct answer and negative 5 marks for the wrong answer
3.Answering time is only 30 seconds


GENERAL rules

1.Only team entries are eligible.
2.A team shall consist of max 3 persons
3.The decision of the quiz will be final and will not be subjected to any change.
4.The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic instruments.
5.The questions shall be in the form of multiple choice, True / False statement, Specific-answer question etc.
6.Replacement of any participant of a team is not allowed after registration


Infrastructure requirements

A classroom in LT with audio-visual equipment required for all rounds


Judging And Scoring

For round 1 the top 10 teams which have high scores in multiple choice questions will be shortlisted for Rapid fire round . After rapid fire round 5 teams are selected for the final round based on their correct solutions . Final round is a buzzer round in which the teams which give maximum correct answers will be considered as winners.


Team Specifications

A team may consist maximum of 3 members. Students from different educational institutes can also form a team. Top 30 teams registered will be eligible for this event.
